This week in Starbucks cups:
I will always be amused at the many creative spellings of my name that baristas come up with…

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the Olympics over the past two weeks, and I’ll be sad to see it end. I love hearing the backstories of all the athletes. I’ve especially been following gymnastics, and I was so happy to see Simone Biles and Aly Raisman win medals! They each have incredible stories—Simone has been featured in the New York Times, and there was a great article about Aly on Boston.com. I always find it inspiring to watch people who push themselves to achieve at a high level, even if it’s at something I have no talent in whatsoever! I can’t even do a cartwheel, so watching them flip on a balance beam is beyond impressive!
Verily also has a good roundup of Olympic highlights.

The heat wave came back with a vengeance. I was supposed to go hiking with friends on Saturday, but I backed out because I wasn’t feeling 100%, and I didn’t think it would be a good idea to spend the whole day outside in 100-degree weather. I have zero regrets about that decision. The heat was brutal! I mostly stayed in the air conditioning and watched the Olympics. The only time I ventured outside was to meet up with Elise and Lauren at Starbucks, which was lovely—it’s so nice to have friends right in my neighborhood! We cooled off with iced tea and good conversation.

I got new Warby Parker sunglasses this week, after my old ones fell in the lake on Sunday. The old ones were getting scratched up though, so it was probably time for new ones anyway.

I spent Sunday outside, but we were at the lake, where at least we were able to cool off. The skies threatened to thunderstorm, but it never actually rained, which meant that the humidity hung thick in the air and it was as hot as ever. The storms finally came on Monday night.

The Sisters of Life now have an album available on iTunes! If you’re looking for calm, soothing music, you should definitely check it out. I’ve heard them play at Adoration a few times, and they have beautiful voices.
The name misspellings cracked me up! It must be since you live in NYC, where things are so trendy. I have also been loving all of the Olympics coverage! I am not athletic and can’t cartwheel or even do somersaults, so I really enjoy gymnastics, too. Haha! I hadn’t heard of that Irish rowing team, so I just watched the video twice in a row because it’s so funny. Thanks for sharing the link!
