I could listen to Audrey Assad’s music every single day and never get tired of it. And I do. I also play her songs on piano and flute all the time. I’m super excited for her hymns album, Inheritance, which will be coming out next year!
Some of my current favorite Audrey songs:
Lead Me On
Your rod and Your staff are a strange mercy
In a world where I’m not yet home.I Shall Not Want (probably my favorite song ever)From the love of my own comfort
From the fear of having nothing
From a life of worldly passions
Deliver me O GodBlessed Are the OnesSo further up and further in, we have nowhere else to go
As we plant the seeds of toil and tears, it’s beauty we will sow
SparrowWhy should I be troubledWhen His tender word I hear?
The Other SideWe’ve never been so fully alive
And we’re covered in skin and bones
And the dust of days gone by
This ground that we’re walking on
It’s where we’ll lieLamentI’m restless, and I rustle like a thousand tall trees;
I’m twisting and I’m turning in an endless daydream.
You wrestle me at night and I wake in search of You…
But try as I might, I just can’t catch YouRun ForwardOh, you treat your time like you own it
It’s slipping fast away, and you’re not getting younger
Not even a bit, no, not even a bit, no, not at allShow MeSet me like a star before the morning
Like a sun that steals the darkness from a world asleep
And I’ll illuminate the path You’ve laid before me
But for now just let me be
Bind up these broken bones
Mercy bend and bring me back to life
But not before You show me how to die
